Tying Skates

One of my most frequently asked questions, and also biggest pet peeve is incorrectly tied skates. Now I will preface their are many different ways to tie skates correctly but no matter your style the tightness comes from the bottom (toe end) to the top.

Hockey skates and figure skates differ, but one boot or the other you must pull each pair of laces at the bottom before moving to the criss cross section at the top. When your skates are tied, you should notice when you stand up that you can't stick more than 2 fingers between the tongue of your boot and your ankle, and when bending it feels stiff. You shouldn't be able to bend your ankle in all directions if your skates are tied properly.
